Football News: Rift between AIFF, DSA sees Santosh Trophy shifted to Punjab

A dispute between the All India Football Federation and the Delhi Soccer Association has led to the relocation of the 73rd edition of the Santosh Trophy, which was supposed to be hosted in Delhi. According to DSA, the AIFF insisted that the competition should be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi whereas the DSA wanted to host the tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium. The AIFF had given the hosting rights of the 73rd Santosh Trophy to Football Delhi on March 7. Sources claim that top officials of the federation had visited the Ambedkar Stadium and were not satisfied with the facilities. Even though the DSA president Shaji Prabhakaran had given his word that the Ambedkar Stadium will be spruced up and ready for tournament. Now the AIFF gave the hosting rights to Punjab Football Association.
