Football News : Italy or Portugal to miss 2022 World Cup after European play-off draw

Either Italy or Portugal are guaranteed to miss out on next year's World Cup finals in Qatar after they were grouped in the same play-off path during Friday's draw for the second round of European qualification.

Portugal will host Turkey in the Path C semi-finals while European champions Italy will welcome North Macedonia, with the winner of the first match playing at home in the final.

Wales will take on Austria, with the winner hosting either Scotland or Ukraine in the Path A decider.

Path B pits Russia against Poland and Sweden against Czech Republic, with the winner of the first match guaranteeing a 'home' final.
