Football News : France take on Croatia in FIFA World Cup Final

A month on and 63 games later, the 2018 football World Cup reaches its climax as a young France side spearheaded by Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann look to win the trophy for the second time when they take on Croatia in Moscow. Both the European teams have been looking in fine form throughout the World Cup finals. France managed to book their ticket to the final after beating the Red Devils 1-0, while Croatia surpassed the Three Lions 2-1 after coming from behind in the extra-time. Croatia will play the final of any major competition for the first time in their 20- year history, having played the semi-finals in their first ever World Cup participation back in 1998, where the Blazers lost the match against France 2-1. On the other hand, France went to the final and won the shots against Brazil 3-0 to win their first ever FIFA World Cup. Since 1998, France are the only team to qualify for the World Cup final three times in 1998; where they became the Champions. In 2006 where they lost to Italy and in 2018 where they will face the first-timer Croatia. The contribution of their jewel in crown Antoine Griezmann is just too good for the French side. Atletico Madrid forward has scored or assisted 11 goals in previous nine knockout matches for France. That’s more than the French greats Zinedine Zidane and Michel Platini. Croatia will heavily rely on their greatest ever midfielder Luka Modric, who hasn’t played even a single minute badly for his team and scored two goals, and one assist for the emerging European giants. Other than Argentina in 1990, Croatia are now the only team to win two matches on penalties in a single World Cup competition. Also, their semi-final clash against England went to the extra-time, means they haven’t won a single match before 90 minutes in the knockout stages this time in Russia.
