Cricket News: World Cup final overthrow controversy ‘revives’

The famous overthrow in the World Cup 2019 which included England all-rounder Ben Stokes and New Zealand’s Martin Guptill has come into the spotlight yet again as the MCC world cricket committee has decided to review it in the month of September. The overthrow in the final match of World Cup 2019 had sparked uproar everywhere, especially in the cricket fraternity. The WCC panel includes the likes of former cricketers Shane Warne and Kumar Sangakkara. The MCC said in a statement that the committee discussed law 19.8 in relation to overthrows, in context of the ICC Men’s World Cup and that the law was clear but the matter will be reviewed by Laws sub-committee in September 2019.
