Cricket News: New Zealand Women beat India Women in the 1st T2OI in Wellington

News just in from Wellington where the New Zealand women’s team have defeated the Indian women’s team by 23 runs. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss India restricted the White Ferns to 159- 4 in their 20 overs. After losing two quick wickets, Sophie Devine and captain Amy Satterthwaite stitched a valuable 69 run partnerships which proved vital in taking NZ past the 150 run mark. Devine top scored with a blistering 62 runs in just 48 balls which included 6 fours and two huge sixes. India in their chase lost Priya Punia early but once Smriti Mandhana kept the scored- board ticking to take India past the 100 run mark. But unfortunately Smriti and Jemimah fell in succession to leave India at 103-3. From here on India lost wickets at regular intervals to lose the game.
