The BCCI announced India’s 15-member squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Virat Kohli will lead the side with Rohit Sharma as his deputy. Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin returns to the white-ball side after a lay-off. Surprisingly, Yuzvendra Chahal fails to make the cut. Former India captain and Virat Kohli's predecessor Mahendra Singh Dhoni is roped in as the team mentor for the T20 World Cup. MS Dhoni has led India to three ICC tournament victories including the inaugural ICC World T20 in 2007. Virat Kohli led side will open their campaign in a blockbuster Super12 encounter against arch-rivals Pakistan in Dubai on October 24. Apart from Pakistan, India have been pooled with Afghanistan and New Zealand in Group 2, as well as two teams who will qualify from Round 1 of the tournament beginning on October 17.
