Indian shuttlers got a ‘reality check’ in the recently concluded Denmark Open after they stepped on to the turf with a gap of almost over six months amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Denmark Open was the second tournament organized this year with All England Open being the first in the month of March. Top Indian shuttlers including PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal along with Parupalli Kashyap had already pulled out of the tournament citing various ‘personal reasons’ and perhaps that might have been one of the reasons why the Indian side could not make it through. There were only four Indian shuttlers in the tournament out of which, young Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth were the only hopes. With SaarLorLux Open beginning from today, the Indian shuttlers are gearing up themselves to make a mark including Lakshya Sen, who will be keen to defend his title. The tournament will be organised in Saarbrucken in Germany.
