Badminton News: PV Sindhu fails to cross the final hurdle

India’s PV Sindhu settled for silver as she lost 19-21, 10-21 to Spain’s Carolina Marin in the finals of the World Badminton Championship. Sindhu was leading the first game at one point of time but Marin used fast and brute force to win it 21-19. Sindhu looked out of sorts in the second could not deal with Marin’s electrifying pace and excellent net play. Body smashes and some great returns from Marin all over the court helped her win the second game 21-10 which also gave her clinch the third gold medal in the World Badminton Championships. Sindhu had reached the finals after defeating Nozomi Okuhara in the quarterfinals and World No.2 Akane Yamaguchi in the semis. This is Sindhu’s fourth World Championship medal. She won bronze medals in 2013 and 2014 and won silver last year in Glasgow.
