Cricket News: Hosts England outplay Australia in World Cup SF

England enters into World Cup final after 27 years by beating defending champions Australia by eight wickets in Edgbaston. This will be England's fourth World Cup final. It was a clinical performance by England, who were magnificent with the ball, sharp in the field and dominant with the bat. Chris Woakes and Jofra Archer nipped the new ball around on a full length. Archer trapped Finch leg before with his first ball, Woakes got one to climb that Warner fended to first slip and then bowled Handscomb through the gate. Archer also left Alex Carey needing stitches from a blow to the chin, but the left-hander recovered to make 46 in a stand of 103 with Smith.Steve Smith once again performed under pressure scoring 85 and helping them to a total of 223 that at least gave them something to bowl at. Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow gave England a flying start with an opening stand of 124. After the dangerous Starc's early overs were negotiated, Roy cut loose with fearsome power. After the dismissal of both the openers Eoin Morgan and Joe Root ensured that there were no further damage for England as the hosts chased down the target comfortably.
