Cycling New : Demi Vollering sprints to victory in 2021 La Course by Le Tour de France

Demi Vollering of Team SD Worx won a tight sprint to the line in Landerneau on Saturday to secure victory in La Course by Le Tour de France. Following an aggressive battle over a 107.4 kilometre route that began in Brest, the 24 year-old Dutchwoman proved the strongest finisher in a final group of eight riders and passed compatriot Marianne Vos (Team Jumbo-Visma) in the final metres to take the title. Denmark's Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (FDJ Nouvelle-Aquitaine Futuroscope) also squeezed past Vos to finish second, pushing the multiple world and Olympic champion down to third. Anna van der Breggen (Team SD Worx) made it three Dutch riders in the top four and Australia's Grace Brown (Team Bike Exchange) finished fifth.
