Cricket News: Suryakumar Yadav makes a new record while playing in the 1st Test

When it comes to T20 cricket, the flamboyant Suryakumar Yadav is perhaps the first name on a team sheet. Yadav received his first opportunity to play international cricket in March 2021

This happened after he repeatedly proved himself in the domestic cricket. He quickly took advantage of the chance and established himself as a trustworthy cricketer for India.

However, this was not only true for the shortest version of the game (T20). Yadav has a tonne of First-Class cricket experience, and more importantly, the numbers to support him.

The batsman has amassed 5549 runs in 79 First Class games, but despite this, he was long forgotten in India's red-ball strategy. But on February 9, in Nagpur's first Test against Australia, the wait was finally over as he made his Test debut.

Thus, now he has made history by being the first Indian cricketer to make debut in all three formats after turning 30. Yadav was not taken into consideration for selection despite performing admirably for Mumbai and in the IPL.

The 32-year-old has mastered the technique over the last couple of years. Thus, he finally got his call for the Red ball Cricket as he makes his debut against Australia in Nagpur today.

Yadav would be expected to make quick runs in the middle if Rishabh Pant is not available. He is anticipated to be given the opportunity to play naturally, and if he does, the Australian bowlers may struggle to stop him from scoring.

Notably, KS Bharat joined Yadav in making his Indian debut in the first Test matchup against the Pat Cummins-led team. After MS Dhoni's retirement, Pant and Wriddhiman Saha were India's top keepers, therefore the wicketkeeper-batter had been waiting in the wings for a while.

Averaging 37.95 runs per game over 86 First-Class games, the keeper-batter has scored 4707 runs. He will be crucial to the team, especially when playing at home, because of his extensive expertise.
