Cricket News: “India have a huge chance in the WTC final” - Aaron Finch

The World Test Championship final between Australia and India is slated to take place at The Oval in the United Kingdom this June. India just won the Border Gavaskar Trophy by a 2-1 margin, earning them a spot in the World Test Championship final.

While the Aussies registered themselves for the grand event by winning the 3rd Test of the four-match series. After New Zealand defeated Sri Lanka in the first Test, India were released of winning the 4th match to qualify for WTC final.

This will be India's second WTC final in a row, having lost the first to the Kane Williamson-led team. The Indian team will enter the game with their heads held high as they look to win their first Test championship,

Meanwhile, former Australian captain Aaron Finch feels that history will not repeat itself. Finch told the Hindustan Times that India's bowling squad has really good fast bowlers.

According to the 36-year-old, Mohammed Siraj is one of the world's top bowlers. He believes Siraj will be essential for India regardless of whether both spinners Ashwin and Jadeja are in the lineup. Moreover, the former Australian opener also said that India have higher chances of winning the trophy this time around.

While speaking to Hindustan Times, Aaron Finch said,

"I am not sure what Hardik's Test match plans but when you look at Shami, Umesh, Siraj, and these guys, they are really very good fast bowlers. Siraj is among the top bowlers in the world at the moment. He can all swing the ball. They beat England in England last time. So India have a huge chance in the final. They have a lot of bases covered whether they play one or two spinners."

With the exception of Cummins' return after missing the previous two Tests against India, Finch discussed the changes he expects to see in Australia's Lineup for the summit showdown.

He also believed that Australia should have won the Border Gavaskar Trophy, citing Australia's batting collapse in the Delhi Test as changing the course of the series.

The former Aussies' skipper said,

'They are not going to play three spinners, that's for sure (laugh). They should have won 2-1. It is just that one hour of madness in Delhi,"

Mark June 7, 2023 on your calendars as two arch-rivals lock horns to win their first-ever trophy in the longest format of the game.
